Race night hits the winning formula

The Queen’s Head in Bramfield has raised nearly £1,700 for the Pear Tree Fund after hosting a hugely popular race night and raffle.

The fun-packed evening in February and gave race-goers the chance to place bets, own their own horse for the evening and enjoy equine-themed cocktails. It was the latest in a line of events that the Queen’s Head has arranged for the Pear Tree Fund after naming it as its chosen charity in 2019.

Kate Wood, owner of the Queen’s Head, said: “We are over the moon with the amount of money raised at the charity race night for the Pear Tree Fund, not least as the day itself brought 70mph winds and all around us, people were struggling with power cuts!

“Fortunately though, the event went without a hitch and everyone had a wonderful time. We’d like extend our sincere and warmest thanks to all of the local businesses who gave so generously in terms of raffle prizes and sponsorship.”

Kevin Vaughan, chief executive of the Pear Tree Fund, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the Queen’s Head for the fantastic support they continue to show to our charity. The race night raised a fantastic sum, which will make a real difference to local people when they need it most.”
