How we can help

The Pear Tree Fund

The Pear Tree Centre

At the heart of the community

We provide a flexible and rapid response which gives people registered with Cutlers Hill Surgery a choice of where they receive their care, whether in their own home or within sheltered housing or a care home.

We support people with any life-limiting condition and focus on quality of life and controlling difficult symptoms rather than finding a cure. Our aim is to care for the whole person, taking into account their emotional, practical and spiritual needs, as well as those of their families and carers.

We offer a range of support so that we can meet the individual needs of each patient. This could include:

  • quickly filling gaps in the provision of statutory health and social care services
  • purchasing or renting additional equipment, such as a stairlift, so that patients can be cared for at home
  • providing additional night care to give a family member or main carer respite from their role
  • organising complementary therapy to ease stress and give comfort

The support we arrange is provided by selected agencies who employ care assistants and therapists who are skilled and experienced in providing end of life care. It is not means-tested, and is free at the point of delivery.

We can support anyone who is registered with Cutlers Hill Surgery in Halesworth, and accept referrals from the surgery’s GPs, community staff and practice nurses.

We also work closely with other charities to try and make sure that effective integrated health and social care services are provided. This includes Halesworth Health, Friends of Halesworth Community Health and Care (formerly known as the Patrick Stead League of Friends), Halesworth Volunteer Centre (HVC), Big C and Halesworth Dementia Carers' Fund.
