PTF’s thanks for golfers’ support

The Pear Tree Fund

Generous golfers have presented the Pear Tree Fund with a cheque for £2,000 to help the charity continue its vital work supporting local people with life-changing illnesses.

The donation comes after Rob Sherington, men’s captain at Halesworth Golf Ltd, selected the Pear Tree Fund as one of his charities of choice for 2022.

During the year, he held a variety of different events to raise funds, including two successful race nights, a gents captain’s charity day and an invitation day which more than 80 golfers took part in.

The money will help the Pear Tree Fund to support people who have been bereaved or have life-changing illnesses or long-term physical or mental health conditions, as well as their families or carers.

This includes providing services such as information and support to help understand diagnosis, counselling, bereavement support and complementary treatments. The charity also offers social welfare advice, including benefits and support with finances, as well as support for families, children and young carers.

A spokesman for Halesworth Golf Ltd said: “We are very proud to support the Pear Tree Fund. It is an excellent charity that offers invaluable support to people within our local area. We have held the Pear Tree Fund’s charity golf day for a number of years now, and look forward to helping it grow into the future.”

Ted Edwards, Pear Tree Fund trustee, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Rob and everyone at Halesworth Golf Club for their fantastic ongoing support. Their generosity will make a real difference to local people, as well as their families and carers, by making sure they can get the right support when they need it most.”

The Pear Tree Fund will hold its annual golf competition at Halesworth Golf Ltd on Friday 1 September. To find out more, call 01986 899655, email info@peartreefund.org or visit www.peartreefund.org
